Advantages of Using Social Networks For Instruction
Enhance student engagement within the course.
Students are more likely to engage in learning by using an online learning management system such as Edmodo. Edmodo works similar to Facebook and utilizes the same interface. This will build a cooperative environment to which students are free to learn and discuss.
Improve student-teacher communication.
Students will not only be able to communicate with classmates but with the instructor as well. Some maybe afraid to talk inside the classroom but some may feel better about presenting their topic for discussion here. In using Edmodo, students are free to communicate with the instructor and classmates.
Prepare students to become digital citizens.
When using any online tool, it is important for students to know and understand how to use it in an appropriate manner. By using social media or platforms such as Edmodo here, it allows students the opportunity to learn and develop these skills. This will benefit students moving forward to college and career paths.
