Overview

The following resource present a problem and/or strategy that is found in a majority of Art and Music classrooms. Following each one is an advantage of using the internet, tool, software, or productivity tool inside your classroom. Links to example tools described are included. 

Using the Internet for Instruction

Problem/Strategy
​Students are looking for information on art techniques and virtual sheet music. 
Advantages
In using Youtube it allows instructors to supplement the content found in the text with visuals, audio, and at times professional tips/suggestions. This also adds a low cost resource that enhances the learning experience.  ​ 

Outcomes 
​Students will have access to visual and audio selections in their course. Students also have the ability to seek knowledge of professional artists via video and the internet to enhance their learning.

Tool Software

Problem/Strategy
​Students are looking to create and develop their artistic ability. The class will use software tools available online for students. 
Advantages 
​Students are provided the opportunity to experience professional software in order to develop their skills. Students can also create their own artwork or music score, which is an advantage to developing student creativity. In using the online tools, schools will be able to reduce costs with instruments and art supplies. 
Outcomes
​Students will improve their art and music skills and be able to use professional software. Students will also be able to expand their skills to learn new software to other programs in the future.

Problem/Strategy 
​Students are looking to expand their knowledge of music and painting. 
Advantages 
​Both courses suggested in the links section are high quality and level learning courses that will expand student learning beyond what is (or would) be offered on most high school campuses. 
Outcomes
​​Students will be challenged in to developing their skills beyond the basics which can encourage them to excel in other subject areas.

Problem/Strategy 
Students are looking for secure online storage programs for their artwork and music projects. 
Advantages 
​There are many advantages for students in using the suggested programs including: cost, the ability to cross platforms, and functions. 
Outcomes 
​Students will expand their knowledge of online storage programs for pictures (artwork) and music libraries. Students will be able to keep organized files for access across platforms.
